Hi, I’m Mark, a guy who makes web games for fun. I’ve been doing this since '94, which is even longer than it sounds when you say it out loud.
I used to work on iOS games under the name Sputnik Games, Andrade Arts, and Mark Andrade. Those early days were spent coding away in C++ or Obj-C using Cocos2D. Later, I switched to Swift and SpriteKit for my new projects.
I also worked at Disney Internet Group, where I was part of the Daily Blast team. It was cool making Shockwave games back then, especially since I was one of a few developers on a Mac. It was a treat to have an Atari 2600 or Nintendo 64 in my cube. People would stop by just to see what kind of retro goodness I had running and sit for a retro game or two.
After Disney, I joined up with Mutation Labs and The Groove Alliance, working on games for Nickelodeon, Disney, and Warner Bros. It was a fun, but it’s nice to be back to doing my own thing again.
On this site, you’ll find the games that I write about on markandrade.com.com. I’ve got multiple projects going at once, which keeps things interesting. Sometimes I get bored and switch to a new project; other times I just take a break altogether. It’s all about finding that balance between code and sanity.
